Whitewater center becomes hub of activity

The U.S. National Whitewater Center hosted its second annual Tuck Fest, a three- day festival April 25-27 that celebrates the active, outdoor lifestyle through competitions, exhibitions, demos and live music.
The nonprofit outdoor recreation and adventure sports center sits on 400 acres of woodlands along the Catawba River. Tuck Fest also recognized Tuckaseegee Ford and Tuckaseegee Trail, a historical landmark.
Aside from whitewater rafting, the center offers mountain biking and running trails, a climbing center, zip-lines, flat- water kayaking, high rope courses, and a canopy tour.
The U.S. National Whitewater Center still has several festivities that lie ahead. Upcoming athletic events include the Charlotte Mountain Bike Summer Series, the River Jam Run, Charlotte’s Arthritis Walk, the Catawba Riverfront Classic and the Memorial Day Trail Race.
Zipline & Dine and the Microbrews Cruise are both common occurrences throughout May, featuring activities along the Catawba River and a fireside dinner containing craft beer and wine.
Not only does the U.S. National White- water center offer athletic and social events, but it also holds weekly Whitewater River Jams and a Memorial Day Celebration.
