“This cruise has been a complete sellout for many years, and it’s always so satisfying to see the community come together on the lake and support all our activities,” said Dave Yochum, founder of Big Day at the Lake. “I’d especially like to thank Nancy and Randy Cameron for once again organizing and hosting this event. Their dedication and hard work are very much appreciated.”
Big Day at the Lake puts at-risk youth from Big Brothers Big Sisters and their mentors out on Lake Norman and Mountain Island Lake for a day of fun.
This year’s event will be held July 18.
Big Day at the Lake has three goals: Provide a day of fun for kids who would not otherwise experience Lake Norman or Mountain Island Lake, recruit mentors and raise money for a worthy nonprofit that focuses exclusively on at-risk children.
Yochum set this year’s fundraising goal at $80,000.
The effort is responsible for raising well over $500,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters during the past 10 years.
Big Brothers Big Sisters serves some 250 children in North Mecklenburg.
