• Mountain Island Charter: Interested parents and community members are invited to review amendments to the school’s Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA-Part B, Public Law 108.446) project. The project describes the special education programs that Mountain Island Charter School proposes for federal funding for the 2010-11 school year, and is available for review through Friday, Oct. 22, in the school’s Exceptional Children Services office, 14516 Lucia Riverbend Hwy., Mt. • Paw Creek Elementary: The school holds a book fair through Oct. 29.

• Pinewood Elementary: The school sponsors a family night Oct. 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. titled “Boo, Books, and Boogie!” The school will sell pizza, drinks and popcorn, and the book fair will be open.  Families can boogie to music and win prizes in a cakewalk. Parents must accompany their children, and students may wear their Halloween costumes to the event.

The Booster Club will be assisting the Carousel Princess in sponsoring a canned food drive. For every three cans brought to the game, the person will receive a free $1 item from the concession stand. … The West Meck Booster Club sponsors a golf tournament Nov. 13 to benefit the Hawks’ baseball team. The tournament kicks off at 1 p.m. at Green Meadows Golf Course, 957 Kelly Road, Mt. Holly. Registration is $50 per person and covers green fees, carts and prizes for the winning teams in the four person Captain’s Choice game.
