Upcoming Parent University workshop focus on tobacco use

The next CMS Parent University workshop meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the NorthLake Mall LiveWell Center. Use lower level Entry 3, at 6801 NorthLake Mall Drive, Charlotte.

The interactive workshop will focus on what parents can do to keep children and teens from using tobacco.

Register in one of three ways:

• Complete and return a registration form.  Forms are available at your school or at the back of any Parent University Catalog.

• Register online at Click on the Parent University link in the Parent section of the pull-down menu and click the link to on-line registration.
• Register at the door on the day of the class.

Hopewell seeks project judges

Hopewell High School invites parents and community members to judge the senior graduation projects.

Students present their projects next week, Dec. 13 to 17, from 8 to 11 a.m. and the school needs judges each day. Judges may volunteer for all or just part of the time.

Judges will have a training session at 7:30 a.m. prior to the presentations, so no experience is required.

The school also needs volunteers to provide refreshments for the judges.

• Mountain Island Charter: Sixth- and seventh-graders perform a holiday concert Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. with select fifth-graders performing a pre-show at 6 p.m. …The school will hold its admissions lottery for kindergarten through eighth grade Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. at the New Covenant United Methodist Church.
