Hopewell High School receives $1,000 grant

The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering awarded $1,000 in grant money to Hopewell High School’s Academy of Engineering program this month.

The money will be used to fund field experiences for the Academy of Engineering students, according to the grant proposal, including: attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte senior engineering projects expo, at which they will meet with engineering students and professors and learn about different engineering professions; developing technical projects in preparation for a field trip to the Newell Rubbermaid test lab in May; and traveling to McGuire Nuclear Plant to gain real-world experience in engineering.
