• Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools: Students bring home report cards Thursday, Feb. 3. … The student-assignment lottery opened Jan. 7 and runs from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. through Feb. 6 and 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Feb. 7. Only families who wish to apply for a magnet program need to participate. … Feb. 18 and 21 are snow day makeup days.

• Corvian Community School: The school offers a yoga benefit class at Charlotte Family Yoga, 10215 Prosperity Park Drive, Charlotte, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. as part of their ongoing fundraiser and health and wellness initiatives.

• Francis Bradley Middle: The school holds its science fair Thursday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m. … The school leadership team meets Thursday, Feb. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in the media center.

• Hopewell High School: The school hosts an evening of celebration for Black History Month, with poetry, music and dance beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in the auditorium. … The school invites students and parents to join the PTSA. In addition to activities like staff and student appreciation, newsletters, and cultural diversity programs, the PTSA provides funding for a number of materials and activities at the school. Dues are $7. The homeroom class with the most memberships at the end of this month will win a pizza party, and students and teachers from that class will receive additional prizes raffled off, including itunes gift cards and movie tickets. • Long Creek Elementary: The chess club meets Fridays at 7:30 a.m. in the media center. … The honors choir meets Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. in the music room.

• Mountain Island Elementary: The PTA executive board meets Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 9:45 a.m. … The PTA meets Thursday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m.

• Paw Creek Elementary: The PTA meets Feb. 8 at 6 p.m.

• St. Mark Catholic: The week of Jan. 31 is Catholic Schools Week and the theme is “Catholic Schools are A+ for America.” The school plans activities through the week in appreciation of students, staff, families, faith and the community.

• Whitewater Academy: The school holds second quarter awards ceremonies Monday, Jan. 31. … Students must wear uniforms Thursday, Feb. 3, for school pictures. … The school’s Penny War has begun. Each grade competes through Feb. 5 to win the Dolphin Leadership Team’s first Penny War.  Parents can help by sending in change with their students.
