The school is one of just 20 nationwide to win the money, which will benefit the school’s athletics programs.

To win the grant, provided through Liberty Mutual’s Responsible Sports Program, the school had to get as many community members as possible to complete an online course on sports mentoring.

“Hopewell High School has demonstrated a clear commitment to helping kids understand the life lessons youth sports have to offer,” said Stuart Pirrung, sales representative from Liberty Mutual’s University City office, who helped the school coordinate its effort to win the grant.

Responsible Sports Program is a partnership between Liberty Mutual, Positive Coaching Alliance and a number of national youth sports organizations. Learn more at the program’s website, www.ResponsibleSports.com.
