Long Creek art students learn about color tone, teamwork

Long Creek Elementary Fifth-grade students in Art Teacher Donald Buzzee’s class teamed up for a project in honor of Black History Month.

The students learned about values, which are contrasts in lightness or darkness, by studying black and white photographs. They then segmented a large photograph of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and each student took a section. Within that section, the student re-created the light and dark values on a larger scale.

Reconstructed, the value studies created one, cohesive image of King.
