First Baptist hosts Parent University’s interactive poverty workshop

HUNTERSVILLE – First Baptist Church will host an interactive workshop Feb. 28 to help people better understand how to meet the needs of low-income families and those struggling with language barriers.

The program, “Understanding Barriers Families Face – An ESL Poverty Simulation,” aims to promote understanding of families’ circumstances through an interactive experience.

In the simulation, 39 to 85 participants are assigned roles in up to 26 different families. The families must then figure out how to provide for basic necessities and shelter over the course of four, 15-minute weeks.

The workshop begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at the church, 119 N. Old Statesville Road, Huntersville.
