West Meck cadets honored for exceeding standards

CHARLOTTE – The West Mecklenburg High School Air Force JROTC was awarded on Feb. 2 a rating of  “Exceeds Standards” by Col. Wade Williford, Area Three, Administrator. This is the highest rating a corps can earn on a unit evaluation.

Headquarters Air Force JROTC inspects units every 3 years to ensure compliance with Air Force standards and policy. Williford was impressed with West Meck cadets, according to school officials.

“The cadets worked extremely hard to over the past year to prepare for the inspection. The cadets stepped-up, rose to the occasion and were just very impressive during the evaluation,” Senior Aerospace Science Instructor Lt. Col. Jack Rickman said in a news release.

According to the news release, the West Meck cadets excelled during their unit’s mission briefing, open ranks inspection and the 30 command drill sequence.
