Ellis wins Long Creek Elementary award

HUNTERSVILLE – Kessieandra Ellis, a graduating fifth-grader at Long Creek Elementary, received the eighth annual Billy J. Presson Student Achievement Award at the schools’ promotion ceremony on June 5.

The award, named after Long Creek’s principal from 1962 to 1982, recognizes a student who has made significant academic achievement during the school year and demonstrated strong character traits.

“Kessieandra is a hard-working student with a passion for learning,” fifth-grade teacher Justin Wright said. “Even if she faces a challenge, she never allows that challenge to defeat her. She shows up every day with a smile on her face ready to learn. She is driven to succeed. She tries hard every day and pours her heart in to everything, giving school and learning 100 percent.”

Ellis received a plaque and a gift card to Barnes & Noble to continue her summer reading.
