Instructor wins award for tech course

DALLAS – Gaston College instructor Karen Duncan was named a recipient of the Blackboard Catalyst Award for an Exemplary Course Program.

The award honors members who design and develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the best in technology and learning.

Duncan, an instructional technology specialist/instructor, was recognized for her course Office System Technology 284 – Emerging Technologies.

“By having various types of interaction, I was able to create a learning community for active learning,” Duncan said.

Only 38 courses were selected from 160 entries for an Exemplary Course Award. She will be honored alongside other winners during BbWorld, Blackboard’s annual user conference this month in Las Vegas.
