Moss takes over at Coulwood Middle

CHARLOTTE – Janet Moss will take over as principal of Coulwood Middle next school year.

Moss has been an assistant principal at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle since 2006.

Previously, she was a teacher at Carmel Middle. She has also taught in high school and college in Tennessee and Alabama. She began her career as a coordinator and trainer for the Center for Individualized Instruction at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree from Jacksonville State, as well as a master’s degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., and a doctorate from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs.

Other principals appointed to new schools recently include:

• Jeanette Reber was named principal at Ashley Park Pre-K-8 School, where she has been assistant principal since 2010.

• Brian Slattery was named principal at Endhaven Elementary. He has been an assistant principal at Elizabeth Traditional Elementary since 2007.

• Mary Weston was named principal at Bruns Academy. She is rejoining Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools after three years of serving as principal for the John Burroughs Education Campus, part of the District of Columbia’s public school district.
