Businesses sponsor library fundraiser with Tom Wolfe

CHARLOTTE – Bank of America, Barry Evans Josephs & Snipes and TIAA-CREF are sponsoring an evening with best-selling author Tom Wolfe on Thursday, Oct. 28 at One Bank of America Center to raise money for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg library system.

The lead corporate sponsors and table hosts have covered all expenses for the event, so all ticket proceeds benefit the library. Thanks to the work of the event’s steering committee members the event is nearly sold out.

Remaining tables costs $3,000 for 10 guests, and individual seats cost $300.

Library Board Chair and event organizer Robin Branstrom hopes the library’s first major fundraising event will raise approximately $100,000 to support literacy services for children, according to a news release.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 in the Booth Theater of Founders Hall, with Wolfe previewing his upcoming novel, “Back to Blood.” Former Charlotte
Observer Publisher Rolfe Neill will lead the discussion, followed by dinner in the Urban Garden.
