Mount Holly approves fire station upgrades

The Mount Holly City Council unanimously approved $34,644 worth of renovations to the Catawba Heights Fire Station.

The council made their decision Monday, Oct. 25, after months of discussion. The council decided not to include installing and furnishing a new washer and dryer, stove and refrigerator for $3,199 and removing asbestos and replacing flooring for $10,361. Councilman Jim Hope, also chairman of the city’s Construction Committee, will provide the council with a construction schedule of renovations.

Renovations will include painting the floor, walls and ceiling, adding a partition wall in bay area, replace existing cabinets, updating electrical services and installing a new kitchen sink with disposal.
