A new home for Mountain Island fish

Tim Stewart prepares to drop a fish attractor into Mountain Island Lake on Saturday, Nov. 6. Stewart and his fellow fishermen, part of the Hardcore Kayak Fishing Team, along with members of the Mountain Island Lake Wildlife Stewards, met to construct fish attractors and deploy them. Because of their shape, they’re called porcupine fish attractors. The volunteers put 10 in one spot and three in another. The coordinates will be placed at www.ncwildlifenetwork.com, under the Groups tab for Fish Attractors. The group will construct and place several more in the spring.
