Calls go out for Cookies support

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a south Charlotte nonprofit that raises money for pediatric cancer research through local bake sales and online cookie sales, is looking for help in putting together a huge bake sale in December.

The Dec. 4 event is inspired by Grier Christenbury, a local 6-year-old boy with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer.

Last year’s event raised more than $30,000 for pediatric cancer research, and organizers hope to hit the $50,000 mark this year.

This year, organizers still need volunteers for a variety of jobs.

• Bakers are needed to prepare items for sale.

• Freezer space is needed in the Park Road Shopping Center area to store items donated by bake shops.

• Drop-off locations are needed for people who can’t make the Dec. 4 event.

• People are needed for putting signs in storefronts and on vehicles promoting the event.

• Delivery drivers are needed on Dec. 3 and 4 to pick up goods from bakeries.

• People are needed for making signs, manning tables, painting faces and more for the day of the event.

• Sponsors can still sign up to help out, and raffle items are needed

The Dec. 4 event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Blackhawk Hardware in the Park Road Shopping Center.
