Man crashes car into house

A Mountain Island man drove his car into a house in the Catawba River Plantation neighborhood Sunday, Nov. 14, after possibly having a seizure, police said.

Frederick Massey, 44, was driving north on Pointer Ridge Drive about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when he apparently suffered the medical emergency, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police accident report. Massey’s 2010 BMW went through a stop sign at Woodington Lane and Pointer Ridge Drive and into a house at 801 Woodington Lane, the report said.

An emergency medical crew took Massey, who lives down the block at 923 Woodington Lane, to Carolinas Medical Center Main, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The home, owned by Richard Ankrah, sustained about $20,000 in damage. Police have not brought any charges against Massey in connection with the accident, police spokesman Robert Fey said.
