Turkeys needed at rescue mission

The Charlotte Rescue Mission is asking area residents to help provide a Thanksgiving meal to people in need this year by donating frozen turkeys.

The mission served more than 1,400 meals last Thanksgiving, and organizers expect at least as many as last year, if not more.

“Our goal is that all those who come to the mission on Thanksgiving receive a hot meal and the hope of a new tomorrow from the troubles they are facing today,” said the Rev. Tony Marciano, the mission’s executive director and contributor for South Charlotte Weekly.

Drop off donations at the mission, 907 W. First St.
