Veterans Day parade promises patriotic fun

CHARLOTTE – Make plans for a fun history lesson and patriotic tribute on Saturday, Nov. 6, when the annual Salute to Veterans Parade returns to uptown Charlotte from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The tribute to the military women and men who have served, and are still serving, begins at North Tryon and Ninth streets and ends at McDowell and Third streets.

The Carolinas Freedom Foundation is the primary community organizer of the event, and several businesses and organizations offer support and sponsorship. Mecklenburg County’s Community Support Services department is again a co-organizer of the annual parade.

A wreath-laying ceremony is planned for Thursday, Nov. 11, which is Veterans Day, at 11:45 a.m. at Trade and Tryon streets. The public is encouraged to attend the commemoration.
