35th Citizen’s Police Academy holds graduation

GASTONIA – The 35th session of the Gaston County Police Department Citizens’ Police Academy recently held its graduation ceremony at Gaston County Police Headquarters.

During the nine-session academy, participants received presentations on the department’s history and organization, crime analysis, property and evidence, criminal investigations and special investigations and were given a tour of the jail.

Graduates of the 35th session are Mark Freeman, Grady Hart, Patsy Haney, Jon Cleveland, Brian Weyeneth, Robert Church, Brandon Smith and Alexander Atkinson.

Participation in the citizen police academy is free and is open to anyone 16 and older. The next session will begin in February.

Applications can be picked up at County Police Headquarters, 420 W. Franklin Blvd., or at the Bessemer City Sub Station, 132 W. Virginia Ave., Bessemer City. Applications are also available on the department’s website www.gastoncountypolice.org.
