City committees have vacancies

CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte City Council has open spots on several citizen advisory boards. City council members will make nominations to fill vacant positions on the boards and committees at the council’s Jan. 10 meeting.

Applicants must be registered voters in Mecklenburg County. Applications must be completed with a signature and returned to the City Clerk’s Office, 600 E. Fourth St., by Dec. 29 at 5 p.m.

The following boards and committees have vacancies:

• Charlotte International Cabinet: One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2013. Time commitment is five to six hours per month.  Meetings are at 8 a.m. on the first Thursday of the month, at the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.

• Housing Authority: One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending Dec. 17, 2012. Time commitment is three hours per month. Meetings are at noon on the third Tuesday of the month at 1301 South Blvd.

• Privatization/Competition Advisory Committee: Five appointments for two-year terms beginning March 2, 2011, and one appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending March 1, 2012. Time commitment is four to five hours per month. Meetings are at 7:30 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.

• Transit Services Advisory Committee: Two appointments for three-year terms beginning Feb. 1, 2011. Time commitment: two hours per month. Meetings are at 4 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.

• Zoning Board of Adjustment: One appointment for a three-year term beginning Jan. 31, 2011. Time commitment is nine hours per month. Meetings are at 9 a.m. on the last Tuesday of the month at the Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
