Curb It! Christmas holiday collection schedule

CHARLOTTE – The holidays generate tons of waste and the city’s Solid Waste Services is ready to collect. To ensure items are collected on schedule, Charlotte residents are reminded of the following:

The city will collect residential garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulky items on Dec. 24. All items except yard waste will be collected on Dec. 27 and Dec. 31. Yard waste collection will resume on Jan. 3.

Extra garbage outside the rollout cart will be collected until Dec. 31. Extra garbage must be bagged and placed beside the garbage cart.

Residents are encouraged to recycle as much as possible, including gift wrap and cardboard. For a list of items accepted in the Recycle It! program and directions on how to properly prepare recyclables, call 311 or visit http://recycleit.charlottenc.gov.

The city asks residents to properly prepare Christmas trees for collection. Beginning Jan. 3, city crews will collect Christmas trees. Before placing trees at the curb, all decorations must be removed.  Residents living in multi-family communities can call 311 to schedule Christmas tree collection.
