• Long Creek Elementary: The school’s honors choir meets Wednesdays this month, Dec. 8 and 15, at 7:30 a.m. … The school distributes progress reports Thursday, Dec. 9. … The school’s Chess Club meets Fridays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17 at 7:30 a.m. … The school hosts holiday parties Dec. 21. Volunteers must be registered in order to attend.

• Mount Holly Middle: The school seeks donations to help Gaston County Cancer Services, including soups, Gatorade, Powerade and meal replacement drinks such as Ensure and Boost.

• Mountain Island Charter: Parents may register for “Kids’ Night Out!” scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 10 p.m. The evening includes games, crafts, a movie and
 popcorn and children ages 3 to 12

• Paw Creek Elementary: Sonic restaurant on Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road hosts a Paw Creek Elementary family night Dec. 3 from 2:30 to 8 p.m., with a portion of the evening’s proceeds benefiting the school’s PTA. … The school’s chorus performs a winter music program Dec. 21 in the auditorium. Students in kindergarten, first and second grade perform from 8 to 9 a.m. and students in third, fourth and fifth grade perform from 9 to 10 a.m.
