Wright named controller for local newspaper group

Kelly Wright has been named controller of Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group, which publishes the Mountain Island Weekly and five other weekly newspapers.
“Kelly has done a wonderful job as our bookkeeper, getting our accounts in order and assisting me in streamlining our budgeting, payroll and business accounts,” Alain Lillie, owner and CEO of Carolina Weekly Newspapers, said. “The company is lucky to have Kelly watching over the financial operations of our newspapers.”
A native of Charlotte, Wright attended the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. Before joining Carolina Weekly Newspapers in June, she worked for a local advertising agency for seven years, and before that handled freelance accounting work for various Charlotte business.
She and her husband, Bill, live in Mint Hill. Her son, Sam Minor, attends Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
