Art With Heart Auction to benefit United Family Services

CHARLOTTE – Showcasing some of the regions most talented artists, the 11th annual Art With Heart Auction takes place at Founders Hall on Feb. 5. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the event which will serve as a fundraiser for Victim Services programs at United Family Services.

UFS operates The Shelter for Battered Women, a 29-bed facility that provides a safe place to stay for women and their children who are in life-threatening situations.  However the existing shelter is not large enough to meet the increasing needs of families seeking sanctuary from violent abusers.  As a result, UFS has launched a $10 million capital campaign to build a new 80-bed domestic violence shelter in Mecklenburg County

“When our guests attend Art With Heart and bid on these exceptional works, we want them to know that they are providing hope and survival for the victims of domestic violence in our community,” said United Family Services President and CEO Phil Kline.

Funds generated by Art With Heart will also support Victim Services programs including a 24-hour domestic violence hotline, counseling and support groups for the abused and family members, domestic violence counseling for incarcerated women, court advocates to guide victims through the legal process, and referrals and transportation for clients to legal and medical appointments.
