How restaurants fared in health inspections for January 21

The Mecklenburg and Iredell county health departments conducted inspections at the following restaurants from Jan. 10 to 15:

• Bojangles, 3510 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road – 95
Violations include: Metal pans with food debris stored as clean to air dry; chicken bites stored below safe temperature; time not recorded for fries.

• Madison Saints Paradise South, 1821 Bishop Madison Lane – 95.5
Violations include: Dishwasher not properly functioning; fried chicken stored below temperature.

• Little Rock Deli, 2615 Little Rock Road – 95.5

Violations include: Raw ground beef patties stored above dough and bread in reach-in freezer; chlorine sanitizer concentration too strong.

• Currito, 6801 Northlake Mall Drive – 95

Lettuce and rice left uncovered in walk-in cooler. Some metal and plastic food containers left with food debris or greasy film. Black and pink crusty build up inside ice machine. Hot holding cabinet heated below 135 degrees.

• Sbarro Pizza, 6804 Northlake Mall Drive – 95
Food debris left on metals pans stored along with clean items.

About the grades


Restaurants are given grades of A for scoring at least 90 percent, B for 80 to 89 percent and C for 70 to 79 percent. The state revokes permits for restaurants that score below 70 percent.


Restaurants are eligible for two bonus points if an employee has completed a food service sanitation program within three years.
