Presbyterian welcomes new board members

CHARLOTTE – The Presbyterian Healthcare Board of Trustees recently appointed three new members.

• Royce Lee Myers. Myers is an attorney who practices with his son, Matthew, in their firm, Myers Law Firm, PLLC. His father, Charles T. Myers, was also an attorney and a former Mecklenburg County Commissioner. Myers served as mayor of Matthews from 1991 to 2009, and served two terms on the Matthews Town Council. He received his juris doctorate degree from Oklahoma City University and his bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University. He also is a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School.

• Patrick Phillips. Philips most recently served as president of the Bank of America’s Premier Banking and Investments Group, retiring in 2008. During his 35-year career with the company, he led a variety of consumer, commercial, wealth management and technology businesses. He currently serves on the board of directors of USAA Federal Savings Bank and is chairman of the board’s Finance and Audit Committee. He also previously served as a director of Visa USA and Visa International. He received a master’s of Business Administration from the Darden School (of business) at the University of Virginia and graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.

• Larry D. Stone. Stone has been president and chief operating officer of Lowe’s since 2006. He is responsible for store operations; merchandising; marketing; logistics and distribution; merchandising; and store support. He also oversees the company’s Canadian operations. He has worked for Lowe’s since 1969, serving virtually every leadership position within store operations. Stone is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development. He is a member of the board of directors of Dick’s Sporting Goods. He also serves on the boards of Wilkes Community College and the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce.
