Vacancies on city boards and commissions

Charlotte has spaces open on seven boards and commissions. The City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions Feb. 14. Applications are available at www.charmeck.org under the City Clerk’s heading and must be completed and returned to the City Clerk’s Office by Feb. 4 at 5 p.m.

Positions are available on the following boards:

• Charlotte  International  Cabinet – Three appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and having varying term lengths ending June 30 of either 2011, 2012 or 2013. Two of the vacancies are general and one must be a representative of the business community. The cabinet meets bi-monthly at 8 a.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.

Civil Service Board – One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending May 15, 2013.  James Harrell has not met the City Council attendance requirement for 2010.  The board meets the first Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at the government center, 600 E. Fourth St.

• Community Relations Committee – Two appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2013.  The committee meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 E. Morehead St.

• Historic District Commission – One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2012. The commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. at the government center.

• Neighborhood Matching Grants Fund Review Team – One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending April 15, 2011, and then continuing for a full two year term expiring April 15, 2013.  Neighborhood leaders are encouraged to apply.  Renee Barfield has not met the City Council attendance requirement for 2010.
Time Commitment: 14 hours/year.  Meets Quarterly, 12:00 pm, Old City Hall, 600 E. Trade St.

• Storm Water Services Advisory Committee – One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 24. The committee meets on the third Thursday of the month, at 4:30 p.m. at the Hal Marshall Center, 700 N. Tryon St.

• Tree Advisory Commission – One appointment for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending December 13, 2012. The commission meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the government center, 600 E. Fourth St.
