Bird count comes to Nature Museum Saturday

The Charlotte Nature Museum is in need of tiny scientists to help them contribute to the Great Backyard Bird Count.

Children can come to the museum, 1658 Sterling Road, on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help identify bird species migrating or staying the winter in Charlotte. Local birding expert Dr. Rob Bierregaard will lead tours on the museum’s outdoor Paw Paw Nature Trail to spot the birds currently calling Charlotte home.

Other activities on the day include story time and an interactive puppet show.

Admission to the museum is $6 for anyone 2 and older or free for children younger than 2 and museum members.

The annual event is part of an annual national survey coordinated by Cornell University.
