Mixed news for Charlotte real estate

The number of closings was up while the average sales price dropped last month, according to data released by the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association.

The 1,414 homes sold in Charlotte in January represents a 3.7 percent increase, or 51 homes, in comparison to sales for January 2010. The average sales price of $188,147 in January was down, however, when compared to the $200,592 average sales price in January 2010.

Looking at more recent history, January numbers in both homes sold and average sales price are down compared to December. Officials say 1,885 homes were sold in December at an average sales price of $193,910.
