Nominations sought for police awards

CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee is looking for nominations for the 32nd annual Police Community Relations Awards.

The award recognizes Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers who have contributed to police-community relations in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

Officers will be judged on helping the community understand the police function and the citizens’ role and demonstrating extraordinary efforts in crime prevention and aiding neighborhoods in handling their special problems.

To nominate an officer, write to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee, 600 E. Trade St., Charlotte, NC 28202 or call 704-336-3056 to request a nomination brochure. You also can nominate an officer online at The deadline for submitting nominations is April 1.

A committee made up of members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee will review the nominations.
