Canoe and Kayak-a-thon seeking participants

CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Wildlife Federation will hold its annual Canoe and Kayak-a-thon June 4 at Riverbend Steam Station on Mountain Island Lake, and organizers are seeking participants.

Paddlers can register for the 8:30 a.m. event for $50, but those who raise $100 or more for the N.C. Wildlife Federation will have his or her fee waived.

For every $100 a person raises, he or she also gets an extra ticket in a raffle for a number of prizes. All the money raised for the event will support the federation’s conservation efforts.

The event will traverse 7 miles of the Catawba River over a moderate-level course. Paddlers will get details about the course after they register for the event.
