St. Mark’s Episcopal holds parish retreat May 14

HUNTERSVILLE – Members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church 8600 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, will hold their annual parish-wide retreat May 14 and 15.

Activities begin at 2 p.m. May 14 when everyone pitches their tents and joins in games, in which no athletic skill is required. At 3 p.m., adults will make “mosaic flower pots,” while youth paint them. The retreat lasts through the 8:30 a.m. worship service the next day and includes:

• More games at 5 p.m. and dinner in Founder’s Hall at 6 p.m.

• A talent show at 7 p.m.

• The rector, the Rev. Sarah Hollar, will lead Compline in the outdoor chapel at 9 p.m., with storytelling around the campfire at 10 p.m.

• French toast headlines breakfast, following by the service at 8:30 and packing up at 9:30 p.m.

The church holds a cookout May 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. The church needs volunteers to help with spring planting, spreading pine straw and painting the shed.

The Women In Need of Entertainment group next meets May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Suzanne Ferguson’s home. For more information, call the church office at 704-399-5192.
