Volunteers needed for upcoming Latta Plantation events

HUNTERSVILLE – Latta Plantation is seeking volunteers to help with upcoming events, including its Ghost Walk.
On Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the plantation will hold a free volunteer training session. The training introduces prospective volunteers the history of the site and opportunities such as working as a tour guide or working behind-the-scenes. Lunch will be provided.
Volunteers younger than 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Site history guides will be available for $5. To RSVP call Nicole Cheslak at 704-875-2312, ext. 304. or send an email to ncheslak@lattaplantation.org.
Also, on Oct. 8, the plantation holds its “Woof’n and Hoof’n” fall festival. More than 25 animal rescue groups will be present, and numerous equine and canine experts will be on hand for demonstrations.
Festivities also include a microchip clinic, equestrian poker run, pictures with Santa, vendors, concessions and more. Demonstrations begin at 9 a.m.
The plantation holds its Ghost Walk event Oct. 28-29. Tour the plantation by candlelight and hear real ghost stories from staff and volunteers. RSVP is required and the cost is $12 for members and $6 for non-members. Visitors must be older than 10-years old to take the tour. Call 704-875-2312 to register.
