Charlotte to observe National Philanthropy Day

CHARLOTTE – Mayor Anthony Foxx said last month that Charlotte will observe National Philanthropy Day, a day set aside to recognize and pay tribute to philanthropic organizations and the people involved with them.

On Nov. 15, more than 125 communities and 50,000 people around the globe will participate in the day’s celebration. The Charlotte chapter of the Association of Fundraising will hold an awards luncheon on Nov. 9 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center in uptown Charlotte. Tables of eight may be purchased for $500 or tickets for $60. To purchase a table or ticket, go online to www.afp-charlotte.org.

“National Philanthropy Day gives us the opportunity to pay tribute to the contributions that philanthropy and philanthropists have made in Charlotte,” said Stephanie Stenglein, an Association of Fundraising board member and chair of the 2011 awards luncheon. “We are very excited to be able to recognize this year’s honorees for all that they have done.”
