Gaston County hires assistant health director

GASTONIA – Steve Eaton, the former executive director for the Partnership of Children of Lincoln and Gaston counties has been named assistant health director by the Gaston County Health Department.

“I am thrilled to have Steve on board,” said Gaston County Health Director Chris Robbins. “He has a wealth of management experience, highlighted by extensive work in compliance, strategic planning and fiscal management. He knows Gaston County and has quickly emerged as a local leader. Steve is going to be instrumental in taking our efficient, effective public health service to the next level.”

Eaton was executive director with two North Carolina Smart Start agencies for more than seven years and has led both federal and state programs. He has more than 12 years of experience in government accounting, contracting, financial management, strategic planning, community collaboration, and board/staff development. He holds a B.A. in psychology from East Carolina University, a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University and has studied at the Center for Creative Leadership of North America.
