Residents graduate from Citizens’ Police Academy

GASTONIA – The 37th session of the Gaston County Police Department Citizens’ Police Academy held its graduation ceremony on Nov. 15 at the Gaston County Police Headquarters, 420 W. Franklin Blvd.

During the program’s nine sessions, participants learned about the department’s history and organization, crime analysis, property and evidence, criminal investigations, special investigations, emergency response team, crime scene search, 911 communications, patrol techniques and recruitment.

This session’s graduates included Nancy Anderson, James Bovard, James Brown, William Cammer, Corey Ennis, James Kempfer, Lauren Kersey, Dianne Leazer, Jeffrey Sauer, Chris Shaw, Diane Turner, Haley Turner, Dennis Whitney and Sharon Whitney.

Participation is free and open to adults, as well as high school juniors and seniors age 16 and older. The next session will begin in February. Applications may be picked up at the county police headquarters, the Bessemer City Sub Station, at 132 W. Virginia Ave., Bessemer City, or online at www.gastoncountypolice.org.
