Cancer society offers free workshop

CHARLOTTE – The American Cancer Society is offering a free “Caregiving: Mind, body and spirit” workshop for cancer patients and caregivers, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at the American Cancer Society of Greater Charlotte office, 1901 Brunswick, Ave., Suite 100, Charlotte.

The workshop will include presentations from Meg Turner, a counselor for the Levine Cancer Institute at Carolinas Medical Center, Chaplain Harry Burns from Presbyterian Hospital, and Amy Hoffner, wellness director at the Dowd YMCA.

There will also be a beginners’ yoga and relaxation exercise class given by Jennifer DeCurtins, a yoga instructor at the Charlotte Athletic Club. Participants should dress in comfortable clothes and bring yoga mats.
