Gaston County Senior Games registration ends Feb. 10

GASTONIA – Gaston County senior citizens wanting to participate in this year’s Senior Games should register by Feb. 10.

The Gaston County Senior Games are one of 53 Senior Games events held throughout the state. The event, open to seniors 55 years old and older, offers a range of activities, such as golf, bowling, tennis, track, softball, basketball, corn hole, pickleball and swimming, as well as special programs including SilverStriders, a walking program, and SilverArts, a statewide arts program that recognizes the artistic accomplishments of the state’s seniors.

The games take place March 14 to April 28, and winners go on to compete in the N.C. Senior Games, held later in the year. State finalists will compete in the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland, Ohio. Registration packets may be picked up at the Gaston County Senior Center or Sheffield Insurance Agency, 2505 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia.
