Mount Holly businesses interested in solid waste recycling plan

MOUNT HOLLY – Mount Holly Solid Waste Division Director Mike Santmire  told the city council a majority of city businesses were interested in a recycling program.

According to Santmire, a survey completed in January, revealed that 28 out of 47 city businesses contacted were interested in a business recycling program. Thirteen businesses were unavailable for contact and two were vacant.

“Overall, the businesses we spoke with were in favor of recycling,” Santmire said.

It would cost $9.50 per month per business to take part in a solid waste recycling program, Santmire said.

“It’s beyond me why four were not interested,” said council member Perry Toomey.
