Go fetch: Can your dog do this?

COULWOOD – In 2009, Cooper, an English cream golden retriever belonging to Kevin and Sherri Cook, discovered the joy of hunting down pastel-colored round shapes after watching neighborhood children hide Easter eggs.

These days, he takes his name seriously by actively seeking out baseballs—by smell according to his owners – in the woods and tall grasses surrounding Coulwood Neighborhood Park.

As an act of community service, the Cooks have donated these found baseballs to a Coulwood Little League Team, the Braves, who practice in the park.

In 2010, Cooper’s “tail swirl and pounce move” brought back 53 balls, and in 2011, the number was 48. This year he has found 84 baseballs, bringing the grand total up to 185. Cooper is also a neighborhood favorite when he goes out for walks with his owners and is affectionately called “the Brad Pitt of the dog park.”
