Belmont Abbey cuts tuition costs by a third

BELMONT – Belmont Abbey College recently announced a plan to reduce its tuition beginning next fall to $18,500 a year – a 33-percent cut. The reduction is a savings of nearly $10,000 per year.

According to the school’s website, Belmont Abbey decided to “reset” tuition to help “burst the private education bubble.”

“Over the past 25 years, average college tuition and fees in the United States has increased more than 440 percent,” said Belmont Abbey College President William Thierfelder. “At more than four times the rate of inflation, that’s not sustainable for the average American family, so it’s time to reverse the trend.”
