West Meck star Williams to become a 49er

Terrance Williams (right) has agreed to play for the Charlotte 49ers.

West Mecklenburg High School boys basketball player Terrence Williams has made a verbal commitment to play for his hometown Charlotte 49ers.

Williams, a 6-foot-4 senior guard, also had scholarship offers from East Carolina, the College of Charleston, Tulane, UNC Wilmington and Virginia Commonwealth.

During the 2009-10 season, he averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots for the Hawks, earning him Carolina Weekly Newspaper Group’s Mountain Island Boys Basketball Player of the Year honors.
