With the famed Pittsburgh Steelers competing for a chance to reach the Super Bowl this weekend, one young Mountain Island team with a familiar name made a championship charge of its own this past fall.

The Coul-Oak Steelers Pee Wee football team played in the 54th-annual Pop Warner Optimist Bowl at Memorial Stadium in November.

Coul-Oak’s version, however, lost a nailbiter to the SouthPark Falcons, 20-19. The Coul-Oak squad romped through the regular season with an impressive 7-1 record and won two of its three playoff games.
