Titans softball falls to Vikings

On April 30, the Hopewell softball team lost a critical I-MECK 4A conference game, falling 5-0 to crosstown rival North Mecklenburg. It was the Titans’ second loss to North Meck this season and dropped their record to 12-4 overall and 8-4 in the league, and allowed North Meck to clinch second place with a 10-2 conference mark. The loss also ended the Titans’ eight-game win streak.

Hopewell, however, couldn’t dwell on the loss, as it found itself in a battle with Mooresville for third place. Hopewell split its two-game series with Mooresville, and the Titans still have games against cellar-dwellers Mallard Creek and Vance.
