2OT win caps run for South Point soccer

MOUNT HOLLY – The South Point girls soccer team has made a midseason turnaround, highlighted by a 4-3 double-overtime win over East Gaston on April 21.
The Red Raiders sat 5-1 on the year before a suffering a pair losses, but have righted the ship and now own a 9-3 record which includes a 7-2 mark in the Big South conference.
The turnaround began with a 4-1 win over East Gaston April 1.
Brooklyn Arnold led the way as the sophomore tallied two goals. Ally Adams and Peyton Arnold tallied the other scores. Gabriella Porter led the passing attack with two assists.
The Red Raiders kept the momentum going with a 7-4 win over Stuart Cramer on April 14. Brooklyn Arnold and Haley Stockton led the goal scoring with two apiece. Natalie Bond, Porter and Mikayla Rose all found the back of the net.
South Point went up 2-1 at the half on rival East Gaston, but the Warriors answered to tie the score at 3 after regulation before the Red Raiders netted the game winner. Porter scored twice and Brooklyn Arnold and Peyton Arnold added the other strikes in the win.
